Japan is not the most common country you associate with Shamanism.
However as we know, Shamanism used to present everywhere on Earth as a natural survival mechanism. Different areas of the world, as culture developed, viewed and treated shamanic practices differently. Altering its course from the roots, the heart of hunter gatherer Shamanism through to its current state.
There is a unique history to Japanese shamanism and its an area Damon knows a lot about having spend decades with native Japanese teachers/guides. This episode goes deep into the history, the suppression, the progression and where you can find fragments of ‘real’ shamanism still alive in Japan today.
We thought this would be a good episode to do to lay down another brick in your understanding of what real shamanism is all about and prepare you for the next episode which will be a practical technique which Damon learnt in Japan.
